What is Genre fiction?
Stories that have a distinctive form, style, or content are referred to as genre fiction (not to be confused with innocuous "generic" fiction). Plot is the driving force in most genre fiction, which causes critics to decry it as "formulaic." Readers, however, take a different view-genre fiction is the most widely published and read fiction in the world.

  Subgenres:
Most popular novels published and read fall into the main subcategories of Genre fiction-

Romance, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Historical, and Adventure. Other recognized genres include Christian Fiction, Crime/True Crime, and Westerns, as well as Transborder (Latino), African/African American, Asian/Asian American, Native American, and Women's Fiction.
